Future technology is already here – Let’s keep all involved!

There have been great steps in technology over the past few decades. The change seems to have become faster, but digitalizations is not for everyone. More often technology is here to not connect people but separate them.

There have been great steps in technology over the past few decades. The change seems to have become faster, but digitalizations is not for everyone. More often technology is here to not connect people but separate them.

Digitalization has changed a lot in my scientific playground, communication studies. Technology provides now many applications to communicate easily and without a need to meet somewhere – if you only know how to use them. But knowledge about communication technology is not just the skill of how to use it in practice. It is also understanding the business behind all it and the risks among the benefits.

During this spring and summer there has been an active discussion about the digitalization marginalizing people in Finland. The amount of these people who are not able or cannot use digitalized services is not marginal, though.

There are at least 500.000 elderly citizen in Finland who cannot use the technology and digital services as they should when managing just normal everyday life like paying bills, buying tickets, and parking. And there is not an easy answer on how to help them.

Our project HUMAIN is established to familiarize existing and future technologies locally. We want to cooperate especially with the wellbeing services county, municipalities, and small and medium-sized enterprises. If you are representing some of these, please contact us and let’s make these technologies general knowledge in your establishment!
